We were asked to re-create an opening scene from an episode of Eastenders. In doing this it would help us to practice using a camera and get to know camera shots and angles, ready for our prelimenary task.
Evaluation:
The place where we filmed our opening scene of Eastenders was almost the same as the eastenders set. We filmed a bit of it on a staircase, which was similar to the one in Eastenders. We did this so we could film it the same way and so that it gave off the same effect. Most of the camera shots involved in the scene were mid-shot, long shot, so you could see the characters expressions. There were of course others, icluding two shot and shot reverse shot. Establishing shot was not used in this scene as people were already familiar with the surroundings. I think our recreation was fairly accurate as we used all of the camera shots, and we also acted out the plot of the episode of eastenders, to make it abit more interesting for us and the viewer. The succeses of our project were that we chose to do our filming in two different locations, for different parts, and that our group worked well together and remebered the dialogue so it flowed and so we could get on with it alot easier. The failings were that when we filmed the first part of our film we had to do it in two parts because we had to move location as the first location got too crowded to film. I have learnt that the Mise on scene is very important when creating a film. We didnt really concentrate on the lighting in our project as we thought that to get it done was more important. We would have also had trouble due to the location. I have learnt that continuity is important, as without it the scenes dont flow together and the whole thing is a mess. The area i need to work on would be filming, as when my group did the filming i didnt use the camera as i was the one acting the scene out.
Having gained experience using a print based product and a image based product i feel alot more confident using a print based product as i really got into it,whereas i didnt really get chance to use the camera when filming.
