Gender & Etnicity- Life on Mars

Ethnicity
Reference to the sari the Asian women is wearing sound very unrespectful and sounds like some sort of racist joke. " It's a bit parky to be out in just a nighty". On the other hand it could of been some sort of misunderstanding, and that the police officer genuinely thought that the women was wearing a nighty.
Representation of the working class Irish man is put in a very usual way. With a strong accent, racism he has encountered, the surroundings they are living around, and the jobs they end up doing "Shovelling Shit" sounds exactly like a stereotypical Irish Man. The clothes that he wears make him look rough and dirty, and all the cuts on his face, make it look like he's been beaten up by the police.
The police assume that the Asian guy has stolen the T.V, just because of his skin colour. "oi,oi,oi, where ya goin' wi' that". This is shown by the way the police talk to the guy with the T.V.
The barman is black afro caribbean with dreadlocks and a really strong accent.

Gender
Women
- There is reference to a woman ruuning the country. In the bar, the women police officer says gives reference to this "it wouldn't be such a bad thing" whereas the men think different "you may regret saying that one day". They say this as a joke thinking back to when Margaret Thatcher was running the country.
