'The Soloist'-Production Practices

The Soloist is based on a true story of Nathaniel Ayres, a musician who develops schizophrenia and becomes homeless.
Director-Joe Wright
Susannah Grant-Screenwriter
Russ Kraffnoff-Producer
The Director Joe Wright didnt know anything about the country or American people. Jamie Foxx didnt know how to play the ceelo, so had to learn on set. Joe decided to use real people in some scenes of his film. He used homeless people, that lived on the streets for a realistic twist.
Whilst the orchestra were rehersing in the Walt Disney concert hall, Nathaniel was allowed in to watch. (The orchestra never normally let anybody in to watch them rehersing).
Working Title films have previously produced comedy films, such as 'The boat that rocked' and 'Hot Fuzz'. They have also previously produced drama's taken from novel's such as 'Atonement' and 'Pride and Predjudice'. Producing 'The Soloist' has helped them branch out to find wider audiences.
